Great Reputation!

Upon learning of my interest in cosmotology school, my hairstylist highly recommend that if possible, I attend the Pismo Institute of Beauty Culture over the much closer Santa Maria Beauty College only because the classes at Pismo are much smaller and students receive more one-on-one time with instructors. So, I called the Pismo school to ask questions and they were super friendly and answered all my questions and invited me in for a spontaneous tour at my convenience during their regular hours. A couple days later I showed up unnanounced and was treated like an invited guest.
Then, I decided I'd better compare that school and experience to the Santa Maria beauty school since it would save me a lot of money and time to attend school closer to home. Well, I called them today and was really bummed about how "unfriendly" the tone was. They carry themselves in a restricted manner compared to the "open arm" and "open door" warmth of Pismo. The Santa Maria beauty college will only allow tours by appointment and its super hard to get in soon! Also, they restrict sharing useful information via the telephone. When I asked if there is anything useful I should know about thier program, I was told, "I'm not allowed to share that over the phone. You'll have to wait for the appointment."
So - that 2 minute experience helped a lot. I've made up my mind about where I'd like to go to school now...and it'll be worth $70 week in gas to go where I feel welcome for a ten month course. ;-)
- Pros: Postive Atmosphere, Sun-lit facility, Great reputation
- Cons: Farther than I want to drive
