KEN HALLOCK, DVM - A VET TO BE ADMIRED!!!
by Julieee at Citysearch
When I switched from VCA to Dr. Hallock, I and my cats thought we had died and gone to heaven.
- Explains in clear and easy detail everything going on with your pet and any procedures/surgeries to be had (He did a very complicated double eyelid agenesis surgery on my kitty and she's doing AWESOME)
- SUPER friendly and caring staff and clean facility
- Truly CARES about your pet(s) and wants the best for them, sometimes at his expense, monetarily speaking
- Dr. Hallock is a truly authentic guy - who you see and are talking to is exactly who you are seeing and talking to - I dig authenticity in people!
- NEVER pressures you to leave for "the next patient" - Dr. Hallock will stay and answer all of your questions in a way you understand, and UNTIL you fully understand.
- A VERY skilled Veterinarian with a VERY kind heart.
HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!
Oh! And about the white kitty that someone mentioned (lol), a very sweet, mellow white cat that never bothers anyone. They saved that cat from death, by the way. That's all I can say about that.
Julieee
- Pros: TRUE CARE and Compassion, Clarity, PRICES!
- Cons: None whatsoever!
Highly Rated Veterinary Care

I have taken my pets to Animal Hospital of San Luis Obispo since Dr. Hallock took over the clinic years ago. My experiances have always been positive. Dr. Hallock is an excellent veterinarian and honest to boot. I have always found their staff friendly and accomodating. AHOSLO charges median prices for their services and has always had provided excellent care for my animals. In addition, Dr Hallock always takes the time to explain exactly what the treatment is and why it is necessary. I have confidently recommended AHOSLO literally dozens of times.
- Pros: Friendly, educated staff and reasonably priced care
- Cons: None that I know of
best gig in town

Considering it was my first visit, I was warmly welcomed by everyone there, which in this trip was 4 staff including the doctor. I honestly felt like I was in their home with how comfortable and caring everyone was, and the office itself is very relaxing, the exam room was very clean. I had to bring my cat in for a seriously infected laceration that involved 11 staples, antibiotics and a stay overnight (due to me being there with an afternoon appointment). No treatments were imposed upon me, the doctor took me back to show me the infection after they shaved off the fur to explain what was up and what they were going to do - no intimidating sales tactics; just the truth. The doctor even suggested pill-form antibiotics instead of liquid since my cat is 20 pounds and liquid would be more costly; they were totally looking out for me and my cat! So the price for the surgery, antibiotics, overnight stay, feline leukemia shot & updating his rabies vaccination was only $270! AND they can hold a check for up to 30 days - payment at time of release not necessary, which was the most helpful thing of all! I'm definitely hooked. -James W.
- Pros: Friendly, established & knowledgeable, flexible methods of payment
- Cons: They have a very chill, sleepy cat hanging out in the waiting room; just a heads up in case your pet would react at the sight.
