I LOVE COSTUME CAPERS!. The staff is always so helpful and filled with great costume ideas. I can't tell you how many times I have gone there with a vague costume idea and walked out with an outfit that made my fellow revelers call me a genius. Helpful, fun, great selection and inexpensive! I love these guys!

I would rather buy online then shop here ever again. The staff is always so rude. I hate going to costume capers. They treat me like I have no idea what I am talking about and I do not appreciate it.

I try to support local businesses... But when the other Halloween Store opens for the season... I go there because I know I won't be haggled by the staff.

They really need a lesson or two in customer service.

Amazing. I was traveling up to the SLO area for a friends costume party and forgot my costume at home in LA. I looked around at all the usual places and found nothing but garbage until I did a search online and found this local shop. I was hesitant in going in thinking the prices would be outrageous but when I walked in I was surprised at the staff and the prices and most of all the selection. I walked away with a great pirate costume for much less than what I was willing to pay and I had a great night after all. If I head back to that area I will definitely go back and pick up something bigger and better. I highly recommend this shop for the selection and the helpful staff.

Awesome local shop. I just read the reviews of this store and have a completely different idea of this shop. Every one is so helpful and have gone out of there way to help my wife and i find just what we need. The rental department has to be seen to believe.

I think the person writing the poor review is leaving out a big part of the story and may be exaggerating. I love this shop and will be shopping there as long as they are around. Hopefully along time.

Bad service. We drove over an hour to get to Costume Capers. I had read all the great reviews so figured it would be worth it. I was so disappointed with the service. I asked the cashier politely about a costume. She never looked up. She totally ignored me. At first, I thought she didn't hear me. So, I asked her again. She still never looked up and mumbled that they didn't have it. After that, I decided to drive back home. I decided it would be best to order online. It was just hurtful!

DONT RENT HERE!!!. It started off ok...rented a costume...brought it back (without the hangers) and the same lady that helped before said you will not get your deposit ($100) back until the hangers were returned. I offered to pay for the hangers at their cost...she ripped up my receipt in a bout of anger and frustration and tried to shove it into my front shirt pocket...maybe she forgot to take her medication but that is no excuse. There is nothing in the contract about hanger return, no one talked to me about hanger return...if its that big of a deal to the success or failure of a business....maybe they should switch to a cheaper hanger...or fail as a business. Costume Capers needs to change business models or employees if they want to remain in SLO!

Maybe another option perhaps with better customer service!!!

Costume Capers Has Moved!!!. A STAPLE OF THE DOWNTOWN SAN LUIS OBISPO COMMUNITY SINCE 1985, COSTUME CAPERS HAS MOVED TO A BIGGER AND BETTER LOCATION

Costume Capers, Downtown SLO?s local costume retail and rental shop, has packed up and is moving out of their Chorro Street location after 23 years. Their new store will be located at 2146 Parker St. #C-2, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.

?This is such a great opportunity for us,? said Costume Capers? co-owner Keith Wetzel. ?We are moving into a great new location with more space which will allow us to feature more of our stock as well as enable us to install a conveyor system to hang all of our rental costumes.?

Costume Capers? new home will feature a state-of-the-art revolving conveyor system which will make it easier to sort through the shop?s thousands of costume rentals. ?It?s really an amazing set-up,? said Costume Capers? employee Erik Austin. ?Renting costumes will now be a much easier and faster process?and the costumes are flying through the air!?

Closing its Chorro Street doors officially on Aug. 15th, Costume Capers will be operating their new store on Parker Street with limited business hours until their grand re-opening in early October, just in time for the busy Halloween season. Extended Halloween business hours will go into effect October 1st, 2008.

Many retailers in the Downtown area have been switching locations or moving out of Downtown due to earthquake retrofitting and seismic concerns. ?Even though we hate leaving Downtown, it is time for that building to be retrofitted,? said co-owner Debbie Hernandez. ?We hope all our loyal customers will follow us to our new location and discover a whole new Costume Capers.?
