Not what a good restaurant should be...

I live in San Luis Obispo and many of my friends recommended Jocko's for an awesome steak. I work during the evening so the only time I had to try Jocko's was during lunch. That was a big mistake. I ordered the steak sandwich, the first thing you would see on the menu. Well, its awful. It seemed to be pan-fried with no taste whatsoever. Absolutely bland. Even though the service was friendly, that's all I could think about on the drive back to slo. All the hype for nothing. And for 16 bucks, I don't expect much, but I could have just went to Firestone's in slo and had a much tastier tri-tip sandwich for half the price. Even more unfortunate, I work at a local hotel in Pismo and I can't even fake recommending Jocko's to guests anymore. Regardless of how tasty their dinner might be, a good restaurant should serve good food from the time they open til the time they close.

Donny G and Buzz Eat at Jocko's

Wow. What can I say but WOW!! This place was fantastic. I happened to be here over the Holidays visiting my good friend Rob Spewack and his lovely wife Carry. In a moment of rare genius Rob got a baby sitter and we were out for a night of adult fun and conversation. Upon arriving we were ushured to the bar where the drinks flowed aplenty!! It was a tad bit busy, and after about an hour we were called for our table. I must say we were pretty intoxicated by then and ready to eat. This place sits you next to others (circa middle school) which was a bit off-putting- I am used to quiet and first class amenities- truth be told. But we ended up sitting next to the funniest couple who reminded us of Buzz and Marcia- two of our dearest friends!! The wine kept flowing and the laughter was raucous! But in this place no one cared or noticed- Wonderful!! So finally the steak arrives and I must say this without equivication-- best I have ever had!! hands down!! The night was even better because our new found friends and me and my wife went back to the hotel and had glorious 4 way intercourse!! Cant't wait to tell all my friends!!

Best steaks... anywhere!

My husband and I were referred to Jocko's back in 2000 by a local. You have to trust the locals! We go up to Pismo about every other month to play on the dunes and we "plan" an EARLY dinner on Saturday every time. When I say early, I mean 4:30pm. There is usually not a wait. This also gives you time to digest your food before going out on the dunes again. I like the relish plate before dinner is served but it's really the Salsa that finishes off the 22 oz. filet mignon. The salsa is not served with chips but rather crackers... the only way to go! We even have friends from Riverside come up just for dinner it's that good! Make sure you stop the next time you are passing through!

• Cons: THE DISTANCE... but worth it!

Gotta try it!!!!

Found this place back in the 80's when I came to Nipomo to play golf at Black Lake. I have made every effort to stop there anytime I have been close every since.

The steaks are the best and (if they still serve it) the halibut is to die for. Will stop there on our way home from San Jose after Christmas. Sure I could get home on I-5 much faster, but it's Jocko's and steaks.

Some reviews talk about the place being a dump and noisy and a long wait...... yes to all of the above and that's a part of being at Jocko's. If you want fast, go to Jack in The Box, if you want a dinning experience that provides the best steak available, go to Jocko's.

I also need to mention the salad, yes very basic, but the honey mustard dressing more then makes up for the simple salad.......yum!

Mind blowing!!

The greatest Steak I've ever had, I'm looking forward to going back after christmas.

I got the Spencer and form that day on every time I think about it my mouth starts to water a bit.

We live in Diamond Bar (bout a 3 hour drive) and this the reason we do it.

Mike O'Meara and Grant Napier LOVE Jocko's

Jocko's is GREAT!! I was on the West coast to ink an important radio deal with my good friend Grant Napier, and BOY oh BOY did we have a great steak. We got there with no reservations--and the wait was long. But who cares? We hung out at the bar and had multiple drinks and the time just flew. The bar was so fun we almost just stayed there!! But about an hour later they called us and I grabbed my 6th Jamesons and we were off to our table. We sat next to a wonderful couple who reminded me of Dennis Murphy and his lovely (albeit annoying) wife Gladys. The meal was cooked to perfection and the waitress never let my glass get half empty. I LOVED this place. One probllem was in fact the restroom. It looked like it was built for midgets. I am 5'10" about 350 and damn near broke the commode! I felt bad backing up the toilet and letting the water run everywhere after such a great meal, but I was too drunk by that time to care. I promise to tell my buddy Don about it!! Highly recommended.

Nipomo offers the Best Steakhouse Money Can BUY!!

Jockos is very very good!!! I love there breakfast, great breakfast at great prices, can't beat that!!! You get a lot of food for the price you pay!! No Skimping with them!! The lunch there is very good and very filling!! The dinner is also very good! The Spencer is the best its like a filet mignon but reasonable cheaper, plus it will last you another night if you eat wisely!! They have side dishes and reasonably priced. There meat is aged and they are far better than Ruth's Chris Steakhouse!! They use a real bbq pit when cooking there meat, not on an open flame in the kitchen!! Sometimes when your having lunch, they start up that bbq pit!

Can't beat Jocko's!! Best breakfast, lunch and dinner!! Out beats McClintocks, AJ Spurs, but I do have to say that Hitchin' Post and Far Western are near second on my list for excellent steaks and food!! Jocko's is far not cafeteria food (person who commented on comparing Jocko's to cafeteria food) unless you eating at Outback Steak House!!

People surely know great steak when they taste it, but Jocko's is far better than some little wanna be steak house!!

BEST STEAK HOUSE EVER!!!!!!!

I have never on earth seen huge pieces of steak in my life! all the 4 star restaurants does not even compare to Jockos, I do agree, the wait is not the best part, but when we make reservations and there are 6-8 of us at the bar, drinking and being LOUD , the time goes by fast!!!! So, heres a tip for you, just drink and make sure you are with alot of people and the time does go by fast, being sober and with only a few people with you can seem like an enternity!!. The one downside about this place is that im sure they make sooo much money buy they cant remodel the place or even fix up the rest rooms, ima big girl and the stalls or tiny!! Jockos is a hole in the wall but the food is to die for! I recommend the Filets!!! Its a 3 hour drive from where im at, but its worth it!

Anyone that would dare give Joco's a bad review does not know good BBQ if it smacked them in the face. Go back to the valley or what ever sh*thole part of CA you cheep b*tches cant afford to live in the central coast. I give them a 5/5 best steak hands down.
